Adopted

I have a big family. I have been blessed with 9 children, plus I have a Son-in-Law, daughter-in-law and a wonderful granddaughter. I love them ALL so much! God gave these blessings to my husband and myself. The 9 children are all biologically ours. The DIL and SIL are not – but we could not love them any less. They are the spouses that are children have chosen, we also believe that God led them to these decisions as well. We also have a foster child in our midst that is so precious to us. To be chosen and welcomed into a family is so wonderful!

The other day, we looked at how God CHOSE us before the foundation of the world. Today we are going to look at Ephesians 1:5 In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

Ephesians has started off so powerful! It is full of showing us how much God LOVES us. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessings! He has chosen us before the foundation of the World. That is just the 2 main points of the previous verses – we have looked even deeper at how much His love is shown. Now we learn that because of HIS great love towards us – He has planned for us to be adopted into His family.

He has adopted us! Think about what that means. We are now His family! We have all the rights and privileges! WE ARE HIS! We belong! We are chosen! We are accepted! BY GOD HIMSELF!

But we also see that He adopted us thru His Son, Jesus Christ. God could not accept us as we were – sinners, since the punishment for sin is eternal separation from God (death). But He loved us so much and wanted us back in His family – that He sent His ONLY Son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus did not stay dead, He rose again 3 days later. The grave could not keep Him, because He is God. But He chose to die, so that He could pay for our punishment as the spotless lamb of God. We just need to accept His forgiveness, that He paid the penalty for our sins. We need to turn back to God and away from our sins.

Do you see again the last phrase of this verse – “according to the purpose of His will.” It was not an accident, afterthought, an “oh well”. It was purposeful, planned. God wants us so much! He wants us to be part of His family! He wants to lavish (completely smother) us with HIS LOVE. He wants us to know that we are chosen, planned for, wanted.

Have you accepted this free gift that God is giving us?

  1. It is so good to find another Christian to download from My Memories. I’m Dotty, received Jesus Christ as my LORD and Savior when my Husband was stationed in Asmara Ethiopia (with our 6 children…we adopted a 7th a number of years later). I need to find your info on this site to join for newsletters. I used to have a Christian Store in Lexington SC where I sold the poems that the Lord put on my heart to write. Then after a small stroke and getting lost trying to get there, I had to close it. About 15 yrs ago we moved to Sumter SC, and now I make post cards and some greeting cards each week for our church’s absentees. This is what I use the downloads for…no money changes hand. It is my thanks to God for my salvation. I will be 80 this year, partially handicapped, but still trying to work for the Lord the best I can. God bless you for sharing your work.
