“Let not your hearts be troubled.” I wasn’t even sure how to start this post. My mind is sort of muddled right now, (I just checked, looks like I have a slight migraine to account for my trouble in focusing). But I looked again at the beginning of this passage and it is helping me to put my heart / mind at ease. I need to focus on not being distracted. The other day, I decided that instead I would spend more time in the Word “after” I read my daily emails, and Covid-19 updates etc. I realized that I was more at peace when I can just rest in God. I read up on the news in the morning because we do have immune compromised people (my parents) living in our household. We also have 3 adult children living with us who work in “essential jobs”.
How do I cope with “troubles”? After my youngest, 12, was born, I started having these huge panic attacks. Some of this is because of being a Mom to 9 children, people were often saying to me: “You must be SuperWoman”. Well when she was born, her sleep cycle was messed up, and because I was “superwoman” it was MY responsibility to care for my newborn and no-one else. Well I learned pretty quickly, as I had lots of help from my husband and mother, that I did NOT have to do it all. Also, God reached down to me with the song “Voice of Truth” by Casting Crowns. That is actually a great song to be listening to right now!!! So I learned that I needed to listen to Praise & Worship music. Sometimes it would hit me so strong, that I would call out to one of my kids to turn the music on for me. Within 20 minutes of listening to the truths of God’s Word and how HE cares for me – my depression, anxiety, fear were God. My troubles, problems fade into the one who “Cares FOR me”!!! As I read about ALL that GOD is doing and has provided, my heart IS at ease, as I believe IN God!
John 14:1-14 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” … 12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
Since I do believe in God – I am doing the work that He wants me to do. He wants all of us to share that Good News that God is here for us. We just need to trust (believe) in Him. Yesterday in church (livestream), our Pastor is talking about Psalm 23 – The Lord is my Shepherd. God is there to help us in times of trouble – He is leading us to green pastors. He knows our needs. He cares for us! He is with us! I pray that you can trust in God who is there for you!!!
