Psalms 63:1-4
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.
My life has been extremely busy since early this summer, a bit crazy at times. But God has been my resting place in all these things, I can go to Him and He will lift me up. As I look at these verses, I am again reminded that He is with me, no matter what. This month, I have been also reading a lot of passages about being thankful – especially since it is November. We are to be thankful in the good and the bad!
I am so thankful that God IS my God
I am thankful that my soul thirsts for God
I am thankful that God satisfies my thirst – and strengthens me when I am weak
I am thankful that God is faithful – I know where I can find Him
I am thankful that I can see His power and glory
I am thankful for God’s steadfast love – it never changes
I am thankful that I can praise God – with singing and when I talk
I am thankful I can praise Him in all of my life
I am thankful that in His name I can lift up my hands in praise to Him
What are you thankful for? It is easy to read thru the Psalms and see God. Then we can remember all the things He has done and IS doing in our lives.
Can you thank God for His saving power? Do you know that God hates sin and that everyone is a sinner? Do you know that the penalty for our is death – eternal separation from God? But do you know that God gave us a precious gift, He sent His only Son, Jesus, to take our punishment? He sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, but Jesus did not stay dead, He rose on the 3rd day, and He is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Do you know how that you can receive this gift from God? You need to recognize that you are a sinner and that your punishment is death. You need to turn from your sins, and turned to God. Ask Him to forgive your sins, and follow Him. There is nothing we can do to “earn” our salvation – it is God’s free gift to us. At this time of being Thankful – I pray that you turn to God for Him to save you.
