Today I am in Psalm 5. It is a total outpouring to God in times of trouble. Do you pray? Are you pouring your heart out to God? Talking to Him about your fears and worries? Are you drawing on the One who can give you peace and strength to face the day? I pray that you will pour out your heart to God today.

Psalm 5:1-3 Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my groaning. Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray.
O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. — We need to cry out to God – He is the One who will listen to us – He is there for us. David is talking to God in the morning. The other day, I mentioned that the Bible says we should be talking to God ALL day long. What better way to start our day, then to talk to God about what is going on…

Psalm 5:7-8 But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.
Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. — We know that God will listen to us, because He loves us so much. That love is a sure thing and it is HUGE!!! God is righteous, holy, perfect – He won’t leave us behind. He IS with us ALWAYS!!! But He wants us to follow Him and His ways. He wants us to do the right things. He also wants us to talk to Him, spend time with Him.

Psalm 5:11-12 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. 12 For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield. — These last 2 verses are so encouraging! When we take refuge in Him, we can rejoice. It is our choice, we must choose to come to Him. He is ready and willing to welcome you to His family.

But it does say that God will protect the people who love Him. We do have a problem that keeps us separated from God. It is the fact that we want to do what we want to do. We do not want someone else telling us what to do, even God. But the problem with this – our sin is keeping us away from what we want most – God’s love, His protection…

So God sent His only Son, Jesus to die in our place – to pay the punishment for our sins. Jesus loves us so much, that even though He NEVER sinned, He was willing to take our punishment – for us. But God wants us to turn away from our sin and follow Him. We each must choose accept God’s offer for forgiveness – through His Son Jesus. Jesus had victory of sin and death – His is God – He rose from the dead – He lives forever! He is the only One who can set us free!!! Today – will you turn to God and ask Him to help you through all that is going on in our world. Come to God and share with Him your heartache.
