Psalm 1:1-2 ESV

1 Blessed is the man
    who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
    nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
    and on his law he meditates day and night.

I love the Psalms.  For many years, I read in the Psalms daily and would use it to Praise God.  It is so full of God’s majesty and grace!  Psalm 1 is one of my favorite – I have most of it memorized (I might have to review it a bit).

In verse 1, we see all of the aspects of our life…  walks, stands, and sits.  These words describe everyday activity.  We ARE suppose to be careful who we spend time.  But God DID call us to share the Gospel with everyone.  But these words – also point to a more intimate relationship, in this instance.  We need to keep ourselves protected – IF the law of the Lord (His Word – the Bible) is our delight and we think on it day and night – it will help us to stand strong.  This also makes me think of this passage…

Ephesians 6:10-20

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

I really love how at the end of this passage it points to declaring the Gospel boldly.  Are you prepared with God’s Word?  Have you hidden it in your heart, meditating on it daily?  I pray that you spend time in God’s Word Daily…  What are ways that you spend time daily in God’s Word?  Please share in the comments.
